Don’tcha just hate that? I know I do. I’ve just positioned five strobes, my model is Tera Guzman from Florida, she’s been metered and she’s standing on her mark, she looks absolutely gorgeous. I look through my lens and say to myself, ‘Oh, my god, this is going to be amazing!’ Then from camera right, Denise tells me, “You’re missing the shot.” Or, “Hey, Robert, look over here at what I see! ‘Cause it’s really a great angle!” I shouldn’t hate it though. Listening to somebody whose spent a “little time” in front of my camera lens knows a thing or two (or three) about how to place a model and how to get “The Shot.” Oddly enough, some of my most memorable and widely published images have come as a direct result of Denise’s artful eye. Every once in a while, it pays to listen to those “annoying” characters who are waiting to tell you how to do your job. It never hurts to stop, look and listen. You just may get the shot of the day.
